In this day of Enduro adventure, you will conquer four extensive trails nestled in the breathtaking Andean forest of the southwest of Salento municipality, a hidden gem within Colombia’s picturesque Quindio department. These legendary trails, known as the ‘Ventiaderos Trail‘, ‘La Selva Trail‘, ‘Waterfall Trail’, and ‘Parapentes Trail‘ are revered by the local mountain biking community. Together, these routes span an impressive 14 kilometers, offering a thrilling elevation loss of 2,437 meters.
Our adventure begins early in the morning when our trail hunters team will pick you up from your place of lodging. We will then embark on a 4×4 vehicle to ascend the Central Mountain Range by a road locally known as ‘La Linea‘. This road serves as the primary route across the Colombian Central Mountain Range. Our starting point for this exhilarating journey on the ‘Venteaderos Trail‘ will be at an elevation of 3,000 meters (10,006 feet).
Our Enduro MTB adventure will commence with the first trail of the day, named ‘Venteaderos‘. This thrilling 2.43-kilometer singletrack has an elevation loss of 361 meters through lush Andean cloud forests and tree plantations, offering an exhilarating Enduro mountain biking experience amidst breathtaking natural surroundings.’
After completing the Ventiaderos trail and eating some snacks, we will ride for 5 minutes to our second adventure, ‘La Selva trail‘. This 3.6 km singletrack descent boasts a 587-meter elevation loss and takes you through the enchanting understory of Andean forests and pine plantations. Be prepared to tackle entertaining rock gardens and root-filled sections along this remarkable trail.
The scenic 2.8-kilometer Waterfall Trail meanders through verdant coffee farms and pristine forests. As riders descend 743 meters of elevation loss, from 2012 to 1568 meters, they encounter exhilarating challenges along the way. The trail concludes at two breathtaking waterfalls, offering opportunities for a refreshing swim and tranquil restorative moments amid nature’s splendor.
After finishing the Waterfall Trail, we’ll embark on a 20-minute ride in search of El Castillo’s hilltop, which marks the beginning of our third adventure of the day, the ‘Parapentes Trail.’ This trail offers an exhilarating 4.7-kilometer singletrack experience, with a descent of 743 meters through lush coffee plantations and sub-Andean natural forests. By sure, this is the trail with the best panoramic views of the coffee region of Quindio department. This trail starts at an elevation of 2257 meters and ends at 1567 meters near to the city of Calarca and Armenia. Prior to commencing our descent along the Parapentes Trail, we’ll have the opportunity to meet with a local peasant family who will graciously treat us to a cup of their region’s finest coffee and a traditional breakfast.

The end of the Nieblas trail marks the start of our next adventure on the «Alegrias trail», a 5.8 km singletrack descent with a 791-meter elevation loss. Widely regarded as the best trail in the Quindio department, Alegrias offers breathtaking vistas and diverse terrains. Expect to encounter grasslands, rock gardens, root-filled paths, Andean forests, tree plantations, and pure creeks as you traverse this remarkable trail.
Experience the excitement of mountain biking on the El Ocho Trail in the charming village of «Camino Nacional» within Salento, Quindío, Colombia.
